April 11, 2026
Join us on April 11th at 10:00 a.m. for an in-person meeting featuring a presentation by Eric, K0JEG. Arrivals and set-up will begin at 9:30 in the upstairs meeting room of the Glenwood Springs Library.
Repeater failure inspires a creative workaround
Over the winter of 2024, the K0RV repeater’s PA failed. This left Eric, K0JEG, unable to pick up the repeater on a handheld radio in the house. However, he could use his IC-9100 and a Yagi pointed up valley to receive a marginal S5-S6 signal, and the voter receiver on Anvil
Points still worked well. But Eric wanted to have that “armchair QSO” experience on the Sunday night net, so he began looking at different options. He arrived at a novel solution for anyone who is interested in remote operation, shack automation or just wanting to clear some desk space by relocating your radio.
Eric will walk us through his project and give brief overviews of Allstar Version 3 (including why you need to rebuild your hotspot) and Voice over IP (VoIP). He’ll also bring along a “duct tape and bailing wire demo” that, he admits, may or may not work as planned.
