Monthly Meeting, Potluck and Foxhunt

Gather up your tape measure beam and radio direction finding gear, it’s time for the annual SCARC foxhunt and potluck picnic at the home of Pat KVØK and Carol. Our gracious hosts will serve burgers, brauts, buns, condiments and soft drinks. If you wish adult beverages, BYOB. Plastic ware, paper plates and beverage glasses will be provided. Please bring a favorite dish (hot, cold, salad, chips, desert, etc.) to share. Also please bring a folding chair, light jacket, hat, sunscreen, etc. Spouses & friends are welcome!

As in years past there will be prizes for the top fox hunters. Brent KDØWAK will be in charge of hiding the fox transmitter. Anyone can participate, even if you don’t have a call sign or equipment. Also, you can make a presentation related to ham radio such as an antenna project or demo, and you are welcome to bring show-and-tell items and equipment for trade or sale.

Driving directions: turn at the Highway 82 traffic light at the Thunder River Convenience Store, halfway between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. If coming from Glenwood you’ll turn left at the traffic light, if coming from Carbondale, turn right. Head uphill towards the college on Spring Valley Road, aka County Road 114 or CMC road. You will go 2.9 miles and the first road on your left will be Elk Springs Drive (there is a security gate but it will be open). Stay on Elk Springs Drive, driveway 625 will be the first left turn after you pass the intersection of Elk Springs and Monarch Drives. Park alongside the subdivision road as the driveway is quite narrow with limited parking. Talk-in on 146.88 if you get lost. Hope you all can make it!
